How to play Maths Quiz

Goal

Answer maths questions against the clock. The questions are made fresh for every game, and the answers are worked out by the game, so they are always right. The faster you answer, the more points you get.

Five kinds of quiz

• 🔢 Standard — 30 questions in 5 rounds of 6, all at the level you pick.
• 🪜 Ladder — round 1 is Warm-up, rising to Genius in round 5.
• 🎯 One topic — 30 questions from one topic, at one level or as a Ladder.
• 📅 Daily Maths — the same 30 Ladder questions for everyone today.
• ⚡ 60-second Sprint — as many as you can before the clock runs out. Each right answer adds 1 second, each wrong one takes 2 seconds away. Every 5 right answers, the questions get harder.

Topics

• ➕ Arithmetic — adding, taking away, times tables, dividing, squares, the order of operations.
• ½ Fractions & % — fractions of amounts, percentages, sale prices, decimals, ratios.
• 𝑥 Algebra — find x, missing numbers, number patterns.
• 📐 Shapes & time — area, perimeter, angles, times and journeys, short word problems.
• 📚 Maths facts — 200 checked questions about numbers, shapes and famous mathematicians.

Levels

Warm-up (like 7 × 8) · Sharp · Clever · Expert · Genius (like 47 × 38). You get 15 seconds a question at Warm-up, then 20, 25, 30 and 40 seconds at Genius.

Answering

• 🔘 Tap one of four — pick the right answer from four.
• ⌨️ Type it — type the answer on the number pad: whole numbers, decimals (0.5), fractions (3/4), minus numbers and times (9:05). Any way of writing the same value counts: 0.5, .5 and 1/2 are all the same. Typed answers score × 1.5 and have their own leaderboards.

Ways to play

• 🧠 Solo — just you. Your best scores are kept, and signed-in players go on the leaderboards.
• 🍻 Same screen — 2 to 6 people share one device and take turns. Get it wrong and the next player gets 10 seconds to steal it for half points. In a Sprint, each player has their own 60 seconds.
• ⚔️ Battle — 2 to 6 players get the same questions at the same time. Challenge a player, open a table, or play ⚔️ vs 1–5 🤖 computer players (from Counter to Brainiac). In a Sprint battle everyone sprints at once and the most points wins.

Scoring

• A right answer is worth 100 × the level (Warm-up 1 … Genius 5).
• Speed: up to double for answering straight away (not in a Sprint — there the clock is the speed).
• Streak: every right answer in a row adds 10 % more (up to +50 %).
• Typed answers: × 1.5.

Lifelines (Solo)

• 50:50 — two wrong answers go. When you type, it gives you two answers to tap instead (no × 1.5).
• Skip — swap the question for another one of the same level.
• +10 s — ten more seconds for this question.

Daily Maths

Only your first finished try each day counts for the daily leaderboard — one for tapped answers and one for typed answers. Play it again as much as you like for practice.

Tips

• On a computer, press 1–4 or A–D to pick an answer, or just type with the keyboard and press Enter.
• In a Sprint a wrong answer costs 2 seconds — a quick guess is fine, but not too many! Stuck? Skip costs 2 seconds too.
• Split hard sums up: 47 × 38 = 47 × 40 − 47 × 2.
