About Five Dice

Five Dice is a classic roll-and-keep dice game. Roll five dice up to three times a turn, keeping the ones you want, and fill all 13 boxes of your score card — from ones to full houses, straights and Five Dice.

Play alone for a high score, against up to five computer players, or open a table for up to six friends.

How to play Five Dice

Goal

Roll five dice to make scoring combinations and fill in all 13 boxes of your score card. After 13 rounds the highest total wins.

Setup

Play alone for a high score, against 1–5 computer players, or open a table for up to 6 people. Everyone has their own score card; players take turns in seat order. Every roll is made fairly by the players' browsers together, so nobody can choose or predict the dice.

On your turn

  • Tap Roll to roll all five dice.
  • Tap any dice you want to keep — they lift up and glow. Tap again to let them go. Then roll the rest again.
  • You get up to three rolls per turn. You can stop after any roll.
  • Then tap an empty box on your card (the faded numbers show what each box would score) and tap it again, or the Score button, to confirm. That ends your turn.
  • Every box must be used once, so sometimes you'll have to put a 0 somewhere.

Keeping three 4s and rolling the other two again.

Bonuses

  • Upper bonus: if Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more you get +35. (63 is three of each number.)
  • Extra Five Dice!: if you roll five of a kind again after scoring 50 in the Five Dice! box, you get +100 — every time.
  • Joker: once your Five Dice! box is filled (with 50 or 0), a five of a kind must go in its matching upper box (five 3s → Threes) if that's empty. If it isn't, you may use it in any empty lower box, and Full house, Small straight and Large straight score full points. If the lower boxes are all filled, you must put a 0 in an upper box.
  • When a table is opened with Extra Five Dice! set to Off, there's no +100 and no joker.

Playing alone

Choose Just me to play all 13 rounds on your own and beat your best score. Your scores are kept in your history. 250 is very good; 300+ is excellent.

Players who leave

If someone leaves a table (or disconnects and doesn't come back), the others carry on and that player is skipped. They keep the points they had on the final list, but can't win.

How the game ends

After everyone has filled all 13 boxes, the highest total wins. Equal top totals share the win (a tie). The game also ends if everyone else has left.

Tips

  • Try to get three of each number in the upper boxes — that's exactly the 63 you need for the +35 bonus.
  • Keep Chance for an emergency: it's the best place for a bad roll late in the game.
  • If you must score a 0, use a box that's hard to fill anyway — Ones, or Five Dice! late in the game.
  • Four dice in a row with both ends open (2-3-4-5) gives you two chances to finish a large straight.
